Abstract

This study was undertaken to determine the health problem complaints of the Shin-Chon area in Seoul. The purpose of study was to provide basic data required by Community Health Nursing Service Center in Social-Welfare Health Center Program for planning related to the health needs of women. This study was carried out between August 21, 1978 and November 10, 1978.
The study sample consisted of 240 Women who visited Community Health Nursing Service Center during this time. The method used for the collection of data was an abridged version of a modified Cornell Medical Index. The questionnaire mcluded 35 items related to physical health complaints and 22 items related to mental health com plaints.
The findings are as follows:
1. Total Health (Physical and Mental) complaints: The number of complaints was largest with digestive system, cardiovascular system and habits. The least number of complaints was anxiety, family history of disease and musculoskeletal system.
2. Physical Complaints: The largest number of physical complaints was the same of total health complaints of population study. The least number of physical complaints was family history of diseases musculoskeletal system and respiratory system.
3. Mental Complaints: The largest number of mental complaints was anger, Inadequancy, sensitivity and the least number of complaints was anxiety, depression and tension.
4. By age-group, the occupation and Education level was the largest number of physical and mental complaints with digestive system, cardiovascular system and the least number of complaints with anxiety.
5. There was no statistically significant difference of the total complaints related to age-group, occupation and education level.
6. Person correlation coefficients of study population showed that the higher rate between cardiovascular system and fatigability.
